This feature is only available in Now M, Now L and Now XL shops.

You can offer your shop in various languages – for instance for customers from different countries. Your shop automatically detects the browser language of visitors and presents the right language to them, if you have added this language to your shop. Visitors can also choose their preferred language in the footer of your shop.

For offering your shop in more than one language you need to follow these steps:

  1. Determine the languages of your shop.

  2. Edit the content of your shop (such as the home page or the content pages) for all languages in the editor.

  3. Enter other texts in your shop’s administration area, such as product descriptions or names of delivery methods.

  4. If you would like to sell to customers in a new country, add this country. For more information, read Countries.

Always make sure that you enter all necessary texts in all languages. Otherwise these texts are missing in your shop.

You can only add languages that are predefined by the shop system.

Many standard texts such as the captions of buttons or the names of legal pages are automatically displayed in the correct language by your shop system, so you do not need to enter these texts.

1. In the administration area in the main menu, select Settings and then Internationalisation.

2. In the table you can see all languages that are already added. Select + Add.

3. Select the language you would like to add.

4. Select Add.

The language is now available for your customers. Now you need to enter texts in the editor and elsewhere in your shop’s administration area.

Open the editor by clicking Editor in the main menu within the administration area of your shop.

At the top, the currently selected language is displayed. Select the language you would like to edit by selecting the button Change language. For more information on editing content, read Editing the content of a page

If you add a new content page, this is only added for the language currently selected in the editor.

An example: In the editor, the language “English” is selected. You add a new content page. The page is then only available in the English version of your shop. It is not part of the other versions of your shop, e.g. the Spanish one.

If you add a new content element, this is only added for the language currently selected in the editor.

An example: In the editor, the language “English” is selected. You add an image to your shop’s home page. The image is only added to the English version of your home page. It is not displayed on your Spanish home page, for example. This way you are able to offer different content for different languages. For instance, you can add an image slider to the Spanish version of your home page, displaying only products that are popular with your Spanish speaking audience.

Category pages are always created for all languages. If you add a new category, it is available for all languages of your shop.

Legal pages are always available for all languages.

In your shop’s administration area, you have to enter texts in all languages, for instance for these elements:

  • Products (e.g. products names, descriptions, keywords and attributes)

  • Category names

  • Product types (e.g. names of product types, attributes and values)

  • Coupons

  • General settings

  • Delivery methods

  • Payment methods

To add these texts, visit a page in the administration area – for instance, Settings >> General.

Whenever there are texts that you need to provide in multiple languages, you can find a language selection at the top of the page. Select the language you would like to edit, edit the content and save the changes.

For form fields with a text that you need to provide in multiple languages there is a globe icon displayed on top of the field.

If a text is not already available for all languages, there is an exclamation mark displayed on top of the field to notify you that you still need to enter this text in other languages.

Some texts such as product names or category names are taken over from the default language. You are still able to edit them.
