The stock level indicates how many items of a product you still have in stock. You can determine an individual stock level for each individual product in your shop.

When orders come in, the stock level is automatically updated by your shop system. An example: You have specified the stock level of 15 pieces for a product. If the product is ordered three times, the stock level is now 12 pieces.

The stock level not only gives you an overview of your stock, but is also used for the availability indicator in your shop. If, for example, the stock level of a product is 0, this means that it is sold out.

You can also define a minimum stock level for each product. This is the level from which a product needs to be re-ordered.

Select Products in the administration area in the main menu and then View products. Then select the product number of the product you would like to edit. Enter the relevant values in the Inventory section into the Stock level and Minimum stock level fields and save the changes.

Special case: Variation products

If you create the stock level for a new product with variations, this is applied to all variations. You can maintain the stock level separately for each individual variation product. You do this by selecting Products and then View products in the main menu, selecting the product number of the product you would like to edit and then hovering the mouse over the stock level of a variation. Select the pencil icon and you can enter the relevant value here. You can determine the minimum stock level at the main product.

You can display on the product page how many of these products you still have in stock.

1. In the administration area, select Settings >> Product view >> Availability.

2. Here you can enter the texts to be displayed on the product page for the stock level. With the placeholder #StockLevel you can display the exact stock level for the product.

An example:

Only #StockLevel in stock

If you still have 5 of these products in stock, the customer will see this text:

Only 5 left in stock

3. Save the changes.

Under Settings >> Product view >> Availability you can make settings for product availability in your shop – for example, what message should be shown to customers if a product is sold.

In the case of products with variations, you must maintain the stock level separately for each individual variation product.

If you give an order the order status Rejected, the stock level is automatically adjusted for the affected products. For more information about order statuses, read Order status.

If you change the quantity of the products ordered on order documents, this has no effect on the stock level.

When you import products, you are importing the stock level too. Therefore, delete the Stock level column, if necessary, from the import file. You can find more information in the article Editing exported data.
